August marks our annual hydrographic e-magazine and the opportunity to highlight some of the global research underway in our world’s oceans. We explore hydrographic data, climate simulations, subsea networks and cybersecurity, camera technology, autonomous operations, sonar and survey solutions, as well as ROVs.

We start with the UK Hydrographic Office and Tom Mellor's discussion of S-102, an international hydrographic data specification that provides bathymetric surface models. We continue with the En-ROADS Climate Solution Simulator, providing an accessible and interactive platform to explore solutions for the ocean's health.

Defense writer David Strachan discusses cybersecurity threats for subsea networks, identifying challenges and vulnerabilities. Lander Lab columnist Kevin Hardy and co-author Jake Johnson explore subsea camera technology.

Banergy and Cerulean Sonar dive into the role of sonar solutions amidst disaster response in India. Falmouth Scientific shares its survey solutions, while ecoSUB Robotics outlines affordable autonomous systems. Nokia's Luca Possidente discusses the role of coherent pluggables at cable landing stations.

We round out the issue with recent updates on people and company news, product announcements and vessel/vehicle achievements. Last, but certainly not least, is MTR's calendar of events that lists the year's must-attend conferences for the subsea industry.
