Editorial
Welcome to the February 2023 eMagazine edition of Marine Technology Reporter, the first of three exclusive eMagazines to be published under the MTR brand this year. With this edition focused on Oceanographic, we thought it a perfect time to take a deep dive into The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project, or simply Seabed 2030.
This is hardly ‘news’, as the project was launched more than six years ago and includes of long list of iconic industry people and companies supporting the effort. But it is a significant endeavor, and here we take a look inside some of the technology and technique being deployed to get the job done. With the focus on Seabed 2030 we also welcome Kira Coley back to our pages. Kira was a regular contributor many years ago, and she’s back with MTR as an occasional contributor focusing on some of the big picture projects and issues driving our industry forward.
This edition also contains an interview that I’ve personally been chasing for months, our interview with Argeo CEO Trond Crantz. Led by Crantz, the Argeo team is progressive and fast-moving, on a mission to transform the ocean surveying and inspection industry via the seamless melding of autonomous surface and underwater robotics solutions. Found in this edition is a short version of our interview, with the full scope to be presented in the March/April 2023 edition of Marine Technology Reporter, the edition that distributes at Ocean Business in Southampton in April 2023.
