Cancún, MXengines, inc. completed the installation of the new John Deere JD14 marine engine this past August in Cancún, marking the company’s first collaboration with an exciting new marine partner in Mexico. A second installation—featuring the 18-liter marine engine—is already planned for December, further expanding the partnership and ongoing fleet upgrades in the region.

This milestone project was completed in partnership with Ultramar/Aquaworld Group, a respected marine operator with nearly 40 years of experience serving some of the busiest passenger routes in the Cancun area. Their vessels operate on extremely tight schedules, meaning any downtime must be kept to an absolute minimum. Because of this, the installation required months of preparation, detailed planning, and close coordination among numerous parties—ensuring the new power solution could be installed efficiently without disrupting daily operations.

Mauricio Orozco, owner of Ultramar/Aquaworld Group, highlighted the importance of selecting the right engine supplier. “What we need to do is focus on the most efficient and most reliable engines—that’s why we turned to John Deere for the solution to our needs.”

He added: “Roughly, we do approximately 70 runs a day, which means a lot of miles and fuel consumption. But when you have an extremely efficient engine with that same number of runs, that means fewer gallons burned a day. What does that translate to? Less pollution and, obviously, for the operator, less cost. What else do you want? You’re saving the world and you’re saving the money.”

The JD14 and JD18 marine engines are designed for the kind of high-duty, mission-critical work that defines ferry, excursion, and inland waterway operations. These engines bring durability, flexibility, and performance that John Deere is known for, while helping operators manage fuel costs and meet tightening environmental expectations. This installation in Mexico demonstrates not only the engine’s adaptability but also the trust placed in engines, inc. to deliver high-performance solutions within strict operational windows.

With the August installation now complete and the next scheduled for December, engines, inc. continues strengthening its presence across Latin America—delivering modern propulsion solutions for commercial marine operators who can’t afford to miss a departure.
